North County Charter School Kindergarten Grade Teacher
Valleri Collier always knew she wanted to be a teacher. After graduating from University of Central Florida with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education, she came across a job opportunity in Vero Beach. With her degree, Valleri always thought she wanted to teach 2nd grade. But she was hired for the position she interviewed for and became a kindergarten teacher.
Fifteen years later, Valleri is still teaching kindergarten and is the co-lead at North County Charter School.
“The kids are so sweet and loving. It is amazing what they can learn in one school year!”
The learning toys on Valleri’s list will help students learn in a way where they can practice the skills they have been taught in lessons, both in small groups and independently.
“I believe that children's learning can be extended and improved through play. Whether it's a letter matching puzzle or building shapes out of wood pieces, children learn so much when given hands on tools!”
Also included on her wish list are books.
“I truly feel that when children are exposed to books, it makes them life-long lovers of stories and reading.”

We are officially 50 days into the school year! I have such a sweet group of kids. They (and I) are so appreciative of any donations.
They love using hands on items during centers and really enjoy working together on puzzles and learning activities!
We are working hard on learning the rest of the letter sounds. My kids are so excited to learn how to read this year!
